Abstract
This study aims to describe the form, function, and social meaning of firefighter communication registers and explain how these registers represent the organizational culture and professional identity of members of the Banjarmasin City Emergency Communication Organization. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, recording, and documentation of firefighters' speech. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of classification, analysis, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the registers used consist of three categories, namely based on meaning, linguistic form, and language function. Registers based on meaning include closed and open environmental registers. Registers based on linguistic form include creation, acronyms, and abbreviations. Meanwhile, registers based on language function include instrumental, informative, and conative functions. These findings contribute to the study of language variation in the firefighting environment and can be a reference for linguistic research in the field of emergency communication.
